Last Monday autumn started again after a summer full of sunny days. When the weather permits, we like to go outside with the children in the summer. This way they can start in the morning playing in the sandbox, running, cycling, helping in the vegetable garden, climbing and clambering or waking up quietly at the picnic table.
Go outside every season
We choose to go outside a lot not only in the summer: we can also be found outside when it is raining, snowing or cold. Still, every now and then I found myself saying to the kids, “Yikes, it's raining! Maybe we should just stay inside for a day.” However, children often do not find rain dirty at all, but rather very nice! That's why I'm trying to be positive about the rain: “Yes! It's raining, so we can jump in the puddles!”It is not only nice for children to get some fresh air, it is also good for their development. Children are born researchers, curious and eager to learn. At home, children are generally bound by rules and boundaries. Outside, these rules and boundaries fade away and children can run and climb.
For young and old
It is not only nice for older children to be outside. This also applies to babies. Outside, they feel the difference between hot and cold and learn to crawl over different types of surfaces such as grass, mud, sand and tiles. They also discover animals such as snails, birds, butterflies and other insects. To get to know even more animals, we occasionally take the older children on the cargo bike. Enjoy the wind in your hair, discover the outside world and then cuddle and feed goats at the petting zoo. You see the children blossom completely and enjoy everything that happens around them.Children can explore outside without any worries and thus develop gross motor skills. At Kideo we believe that a child can get 'dirty'. At the end of the day, the sand from the sandbox is often from the hair to the buttocks. Every child experiences playing outside differently, one child can't get enough of it and rolls through the sand, while the other child carefully touches the sand and hates feeling sand between his or her toes. This is very interesting for us to see: every child reacts differently to different structures and environments. So whatever the season and whatever the weather conditions, we continue to enjoy, play and explore outside.
