The National Reading Days are organized nationally every year to encourage reading to young children who cannot yet read themselves. At Kideo we also pay attention to the National Reading Days. We find making contact and communicating with the children very important at Kideo, because this is good for language development. Reading aloud is very suitable for this.
Reading at Kideo
Reading aloud, something I love to do as a teacher. Since acting is one of my hobbies, I can imagine myself in the different roles that appear in the book while reading. By actively reading aloud with voices and different voice volumes, I notice that the children continue to listen with fascination and respond to the stories that are read aloud. Most children become focused and calm when we read a book aloud. It is therefore a wonderful moment of rest for the children after they have run outside or played in the group. There are of course also children who do not enjoy being read to or find it difficult to sit still and listen. I try to involve these children by having them sit next to me or on my lap. Because the child is a little closer, it is often possible to maintain concentration! My favorite books
In the 2+ group where I work, we have a number of favorite books to read, which we would of course like to share with you!- A house for Harry. A wonderful book that addresses various dilemmas. Sadness, losing your house, animals and games. Picture book of the year 2019.
- Liselotje on the potty. A book that was often read to me as a child. It is a rhyming book. Sometimes the children find this a bit difficult, but the more often I read it to them, the more they enjoy it. Children's attention span improves as we read books more often. In addition, this book is very suitable for practicing toilet training.
- Where's bear? A book about counting and hiding: something that 2-year-old children are very busy with. The children get very excited when we count and look for bears in the book.
